Philip Meyer, “If Hitler Asked You to Electrocute a Stranger, Would You? Probably” Esquire (1970)
The topic is controversial. The most of people would answer No because of the human ethics. The interesting thing of the article is that it tries to prove people might follow the order from Hitler. The articles’ points are strong and logical relations. It makes me rethink about the human being. Humans may make a different decision from a particular situation. I guess the meaning behind the article is that people were forced to do something or they are willing to do. These are totally two different important factors that to judge someone
Philip K. Dick’s Future Is Now
the article is more like a biography about Philip K. Dick. I did not really know much about him before. But after i had read this article, i feel that he might be the one of greatest writers in the world. Using his owm life experiences to describe a story, even though sometimes the stories were used a darkly style. i will try to know more about him.
Blows Against the Empire
Love how the author use his personal experiences in this article. blowing me ideas that how to use my personal experiences in my essay. Also, i like his style that using the third person to narrate the storylines.
The Formal Elements of Fiction
This article is really useful to me to analysis the Fiction. And it also give me a lot of ideas that how to write my history background eassy.
Actually, there is an element which was called “tricked” (I can’t exactly translate the word), to make the readers have more reactions from the fictions. the fiction’s storylines should not be able to guess. So, when the readers have read the end, they will feel surprised. i may also use this element in my eassy.
Tricked
The story reminds me my childhood. The experience of childhood affects our personalities, and helps us to discriminate what are wrong or right behaviors. As the author mentions in his article, “Take a good look at myself”.
Modern Love
The essay was shared by a middle-age woman, who was seeking passions for the life. The most funny thing is that she was sharing her personal experiences about how to having sex in a car. Actually, when the couples are getting old, they need to find a way to keep their passions for their love, even though it is embarrassed to talk about. I love the story.
